Asian. Acoustic. Urban. Electronic. Poetic Lyrics. Infectious melodies.  Gein Wong is an a spoken word poet, playwright, video artist and music composer who weaves emotion and power throughout her art. She is an 2010 Ontario KM Hunter Award Nominee in Theatre. Her works focus on obvious things like gender, class and race....as well as things a little less obvious, like gender, class and race. Her works have been heard and performed across Canada, as well as internationally in the United Kingdom, the Caribbean, East Asia and the United States. Her CD Thousand Mile Voice is a warm and distinctive blend of East Asian acoustic instruments and electronic brushed beats. Gein is a New York Kundiman Poetry fellow and is featured on the Dig Your Roots Canadian Spoken Word CD. She is classically trained in piano and french horn and has trained with the renowned erhu (Chinese violin) virtuoso Shao Lin.
