Hiding Words (for you)

by Gein Wong

Hiding Words (for you) delves into nushu, a secret language that Chinese women created when they were not allowed to read or write. Set in China on the eve of its biggest 19th Century rebellion, as well as a present-day Canada, where national security has reached an increasingly heightened state, this play examines the relationship between two women who are connected with each other through space and time, following their pursuits to influence social change.

Hiding Words (for you) seamlessly blends together theatre, poetry, spoken word, hip hop, western and chinese classical music, modern dance, classical chinese dance, performance art, and the visual arts.
